"Dinosaurs" 1st Grade

First graders have been working very hard creating dinosaurs. They chose their favorite species, and drew it with a pencil and outlined it with a sharpie.

We talked about the different kinds of texture. How some things feel smooth or rough, and decided to give our Dinosaurs tough, textured skin. We tore up paper and glued it on till it covered the whole body. Then we added eyes and a mouth.

We added a coat of papier-mache to make it extra tough.

When they dry, we will cut them out and glue them on watercolor paper. Once we draw the background, we will paint it with watercolors. To be continued.

"The World Beneath Your Feet" 2nd Grade

We began our project by reading selections from the book, "The World Beneath Your Feet." We discussed the different kinds of environments and habitats that we walk through. The students created a sketch of a small environment, where everything appeared larger than life.

Then we sketched our shoes.

Then we combined the shoe with the environment on a piece of watercolor paper. We sketched, outlined, and then painted our pieces.
